Dear 8th Grade Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We are excited to begin this special year with our 8th grade students as they prepare for an important milestone, their promotion from junior high.

As we begin the school year, we want to make sure families and students are aware of the requirements for participation in the Oakdale Junior High School Promotion Ceremony. Promotion is a special privilege, and students are expected to maintain strong academic performance and positive behavior throughout the year. To be eligible to participate in the promotion ceremony, students must meet the following requirements:

Academic Performance

• Maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA
• Receive no more than one ‘F’ during the final grading period

Please note that students will not be eligible to participate in the promotion ceremony if they meet any of the following criteria:

Behavior

• Receive two suspensions or one five-day suspension during the 4th quarter;
• Receive three suspensions during the 8th grade school year

Citizenship - Receive two or more ‘Unsatisfactory’ (U) citizenship marks on their 3rd quarter grade report

We encourage students to make positive choices, attend school regularly, stay focused on their academics, and demonstrate the citizenship and behavior expected of an 8th grade student. Families are encouraged to monitor grades, attendance, and behavior throughout the year and communicate with the school whenever questions or concerns arise.
