To participate in the OJHS promotional ceremony students must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and/or 48 academic points during 7th and 8th grade. Students receive final grades at the end of Fall and Spring semesters.

Academic points are calculated as follows:
A = 4 points
B = 3 points
C = 2 points
D = 1 point
F = 0 points

Please be aware that students will not be able to participate in the promotional ceremony if:

• Students receive two suspensions or one five-day suspension in the fourth quarter of 8th grade
• Students receive three suspensions throughout the 8th grade year
• Students receive two or more 'F' grades in the last grading period of 8th grade
• Students receive two or more 'Unsatisfactory' (U) citizenship marks on their third quarter grade report during 8th grade
